Question: Why did I get server error 1803 in Access 2000 after selecting option 'Create new database' and starting upsizing to SQL Server 2005?
The initial default size of a primary file of a new database in SQL Server 2000 is equal to the size of primary file of the model database (2048KB).
The initial default size of a primary file of a new database in SQL Server 2005 is equal to 3.19 MB.
Therefore, Microsoft Upsizing Wizard cannot create a new database with the primary file size less then size of the primary file of the model database.
To avoid this error you should create a new database in SQL Server 2005 using Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio or running a script, for example 'Upsized_your_database_SQLServer'. Select 'Use existing database' option in Microsoft Upsizing Wizard instead of option 'Create new database'.
Add a new data source pointing to a newly created SQL Server 2005 'Upsized_your_database_SQLServer' database and then select that data source from the list.
